Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today thanked the community’s seniors for the important role they play ahead this year’s Grandparents Day and encouraged residents to spend the day with an older loved one.

“Grandparents Day is a day to connect across the generations and to recognise the important work seniors do in strengthening our community,” Ms Cooke said.

“Next Sunday, October 28, is when we can celebrate some of the most cherished members of our families and let them know how much we truly love and respect them.

“It’s all too easy to take them for granted as we go about our busy daily routines, so let’s take a moment to let them know how much we all adore them.

“Residents in the Cootamundra region can enjoy a day of fun in the grounds of Cootamundra Nursing Home on Monday, October 29, from 2pm to 4pm,” Ms Cooke said.

“The theme is memories, and it’s a fantastic chance to share stories, enjoy music, tuck in to treats which your grandparents may have enjoyed, and you can even bring photos of grandparents with grandchildren and really celebrate together.

“This will be a beautiful day to share with residents of Cootamundra Nursing Home,” Ms Cooke said.

Grandparents Day is an initiative of the NSW Government’s Ageing Strategy and is held annually on the last Sunday in October.
