BOOST FOR BUS ROUTES ACROSS COWRA SHIRE

Bus routes across the Cowra Shire today received a $1,703,750 boost from the Australian and NSW Governments in a joint funding effort to fix local roads.
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today presented the funding to the Cowra Shire Council, which is aiming to improve road safety and give a boost to local jobs.
Ms Cooke said the Council had secured a substantial amount of funding from the Fixing Country Roads program, which was investing $382 million across the state.
“This work is so important to keep our students safe as they travel to and from school, and to improve road safety for everyone,” Ms Cooke said.
“This is a fantastic injection into Cowra Shire’s economy during what has been an incredibly difficult time for the region.”

NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said the NSW Government was also accelerating its funding for the program to get more projects to seal, maintain and repair local roads under way faster.
“We’re not just putting our foot down in terms of delivering this package – we’re turbocharging it to ensure we create jobs and create better journeys on the roads that really matter to local communities,” Mr Toole said.
Projects will need to be delivered within two years of receiving funding, to ensure that local communities are benefiting sooner.
