Construction has officially kicked off at the New South Wales Government’s new $4 million TAFE NSW facility in Narrandera.

The Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke and Minister responsible for TAFE NSW Adam Marshall today officially turned the first sod at the site of the state-of-the-art Connected Learning Centre (CLC).

Ms Cooke, herself a graduate of a TAFE floristry course, said she was delighted students will benefit from a stronger TAFE NSW presence in the region.

“This new facility will boost access to the 1,200 plus courses on offer at TAFE NSW, allowing students to study the right course for their chosen career without having to travel to larger towns like Wagga, Young or Albury,” she said.

“I am delighted the NSW Government is investing in the future of our students right here in Narrandera through this new state-of-the-art education facility,” Ms Cooke said.

Mr Marshall said the construction of the new CLC would boost TAFE NSW’s presence in Cootamundra and significantly enhance study options for local students.

“The NSW Government is investing $4 million in the future of students in the area, providing them with the world-class learning facilities they need to study a broader range of courses without being forced to travel long distances,” Mr Marshall said.

“Based on trends at other CLCs, students in Narrandera will potentially be able to access between thirty per cent more to double the amount of courses currently on offer.

“Students at this new digitally-powered facility will be able to connect into TAFE NSW’s state-wide network of campuses and courses, delivering on the NSW Government’s commitment to boost TAFE NSW’s presence across regional and rural NSW.”

Construction of the Narrandera CLC is expected to be completed in mid-2018. For more information on CLCs visit - https://www.tafensw.edu.au/clc
