E-SAFETY PETITION FOR INCREASE SAFETY MEASURES ON LEVEL CROSSINGS DEBATED IN PARLIAMENT

Yesterday, November 11 2021, saw Madeline Bott’s e-petition for increased safety measures at level crossings being brought to debate in parliament. Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke spoke to the debate in support of increased safety measures.
Steph Cooke MP said she was pleased to speak to the debate presented to the NSW Legislative Assembly.
“This e-petition received 21,011 signatures and has been waiting to be presented to NSW Parliament,” Ms Cooke said.
“I am proud of the work that has gone in to getting the e-petition to this stage and I thank Ms Bott for her tireless effort and work.”
“I would like to acknowledge those who gathered at the Grenfell Bowling Club yesterday, including representatives from Cowra Shire Councils, Hilltops council and Transport NSW watching the debate live.”
“I wish to also thank Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, Paul Toole MP, his staff and Transport for NSW for their continued support through this process. This support will ensure safety measures will be taken aboard.”

Through a special exemption on compassionate grounds, Ms Bott and her family members were able to attend the debate in person.
The debate response is due next Tuesday 16 November.
Additionally, Ms Cooke and Ms Bott will be heading to Canberra in two weeks to continue talks with Deputy Prime Minister, Barnaby Joyce to ensure the support of the Federal Government behind these safety improvements to level crossings.
