EMERGENCY FODDER AVAILABLE FROM ADELONG

A fodder distribution point has been opened today at Adelong to provide landholders impacted by the Dunns Road and Green Valley fires with emergency fodder for their livestock.  

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said with active fires still burning in the area, the NSW Government is choosing to set up fodder distribution points which are safe and central for landholders.

“Landholders needing assistance with services including emergency fodder and livestock water, animal assessments and veterinary services should call 1800 814 647,” Ms Cooke said. 

“So far, we have distributed more than 400 tonnes of fodder and 28KL of water to farmers whose properties or animals have been affected by the horrific fires in our area.  

“More than 700 animals are also in care at animal evacuation points at Tumut and Wagga Wagga. 

Ms Cooke said that in addition to the Adelong fodder distribution point which has opened today, the NSW Government also has a fodder distribution point at Holbroook and they are hoping to open another at Tumut next week. 

 “Conditions are expected to deteriorate today, so it is important people prepare for worsening conditions by ensuring they have a plan to manage their livestock and animals.” Ms Cooke said.

Landholders can prepare by: 

• Knowing the risk to you, your animals and property

• Knowing where to go

• Knowing who to call

• Knowing your plan

• Have an emergency kit for you and your animals

• Preparing now to act early
