Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today announced students and teachers at Temora West Public School, Gundagai Public School and Ariah Park Central School will get new and improved facilities thanks to more than $100,000 in NSW Government grants.

Temora West Public School will receive $25,000 to upgrade their games courts, Gundagai Public School will get $60,000 for a new covered outdoor learning area (COLA) and Ariah Park Central School will receive $20,000 for a new shade structure over play equipment.

Ms Cooke welcomed the NSW Government funding for the projects.

“I congratulate the school communities for their outstanding work to make these projects a reality, and I’m delighted the NSW Government is supporting their efforts,” Ms Cooke said.

“All of these projects will enhance students’ learning and leisure time outside, in the fresh air, with school communities matching the Government dollar-for-dollar.

“The result will be grounds and equipment teachers, children and parents can be truly proud of.”

Education Minister Rob Stokes said the NSW Government was working hard to deliver the school facilities students and local communities deserve.

“We want all students to have the resources they need to succeed and thrive in the 21st century,” Minister Stokes said.

The Joint Funding Program is a NSW Government initiative to support fundraising efforts by school communities. Grants will match school community contributions for works including playground upgrades, repurposing existing assets and facility refurbishments.

In addition to this program, the NSW Government is spending $4.2 billion over four years building 120 new or upgraded schools and $747 million on school maintenance.

This is the biggest investment in public school infrastructure in the history of NSW.
