GO FLY A KITE IN HARDEN THIS WEEKEND

Friday, 9 October 2026
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke is encouraging everyone to head to Harden this weekend for the 2026 Kite Festival.
Ms Cooke said the event illustrates the strength, creativity and community spirit of the Harden-Murrumburrah area.
“The Harden Kite Festival is a fantastic family event that brings people together and showcases the welcoming spirit of our local community,” Ms Cooke said.

“Events like this not only provide a great day out for families, but they also deliver important economic benefits by encouraging people to explore the town, support local businesses and enjoy everything the region has to offer.”
The festival is set to bring colour and excitement to the skies above Harden, attracting visitors and locals for a day of outdoor fun, entertainment, and community.
With spectacular kite displays and activities for all ages, the festival is a great opportunity for people to come together.
“Whether you’re an avid kite flyer or only looking for a fun day out with family and friends, I encourage everyone to come along and be part of this wonderful community celebration,” Ms Cooke said.
The festival features a range of attractions and activities for people of all ages, from the smallest of kite flyers to the oldest.
The gates of the Harden Racecourse will open from 10 am, with a jam packed program on the main stage, including the popular Little Riverina Band, the Australian Army Band Kapooka, and a kite talk by Michael Richards.
There are free activities all day with the Public Kite Flying Area, badge and kite making, face painting, petting zoo, kite decorating and a sand pit for the kids to play in.
Across the grounds there will be community stalls, market stalls, food vans, a big kite display and the Harden Fire and Rescue Display where you can get an up close look at what it takes to keep the community safe.
There will also be plenty of rides, including teacups, dodgem cars, a bungee trampoline, swinging chairs, a dual-lane gigantic slide, and jumping castles.
“The Harden Kite Festival guarantees to be a day of fun and family friendly entertainment, and I encourage everyone to check it out,” Ms Cooke said.
