GRANT FUNDING SUPPORTS WOODSTOCK HONOUR ROLL CONSERVATION

Honour rolls featuring the names of Woodstock’s esteemed veterans have undergone cleaning and repairs, with grant funding supporting the work.
Woodstock War Memorial Hall Inc received $11,590 from the Community War Memorials Fund 2025/26 to fund the hand-cleaning of the community’s honour rolls.
60 names are preserved on the Woodstock Great War Roll of Honour, with a quarter of those who served having paid the ultimate price in service of their country.
Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, who endorsed the project, visited Woodstock Hall on Monday to see the results of the preservation efforts.
“To see the names of all the young men who so bravely left their small village to defend our nation, and knowing fifteen never returned home, and how that loss is still felt in Woodstock today puts into perspective how vital maintaining this history truly is,” Ms Cooke said.
“These honour rolls are quite old and fragile, so it was important that the greatest care was taken to preserve each and every name etched in them.”
“The honour rolls have been cleaned and presented so thoughtfully, and this will allow future generations to observe the names of local veterans and be inspired by their bravery.”
“The community’s efforts to secure funding and maintain these memorials with such pride must be commended.”
The Community War Memorials Fund offers grants to preserve community war memorials throughout NSW and has been successfully applied for by groups in the Cootamundra electorate since its establishment.
“The Community War Memorials Fund is a vital funding program that provides meaningful financial support to community groups that do the hard work of maintaining local memorials,” Ms Cooke said.
“Earlier this year, I put the call out for eligible community groups to apply for the 2026/27 grants program, and I’m hopeful that more local groups will be successful in obtaining funding when recipients are announced in October.”
