NEW COWRA HOSPITAL READY TO TRANSFORM LOCAL HEALTHCARE

Construction of the $110.2 million Cowra Hospital Redevelopment is officially complete, marking a proud and significant milestone for the Cowra community. 

Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, has welcomed the news that the facility is now just weeks away from opening to the public, stating the project has always been about the people of Cowra. 

“This is an incredibly special moment,” Ms Cooke said. 

“When I was first elected as the local Member, the redevelopment of Cowra Hospital was among the very first major projects I began advocating for."

"Cowra needed and deserved a health service that truly met their needs now and into the future, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve been able to achieve.” 

Work on the new, purpose-built hospital began in 2024, following extensive planning, design and community consultation to ensure the facility would meet the needs of Cowra residents both now and in the years ahead. 

The redevelopment delivers modern, enhanced facilities including a new Emergency Department, inpatient ward, maternity unit with a dedicated nursery, dental clinic, renal dialysis, oncology, and the hospital’s very first CT scanner. 

“This new facility is the result of years of advocacy, collaboration, and hard work by so many and will ensure patients can receive high-quality care close to home,” Ms Cooke said. 

“This will also help us retain the dedicated health professionals our region needs and attract the next generation of healthcare professionals to work and live in this fantastic town.” 

Ahead of the official opening, the community has been invited to take a first look inside the new hospital during a Community Open Day on Saturday 29 November 2025, with guided tours running every 15 minutes from 11.00am to 3.00pm.
