Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today announced the preferred site of Grenfell’s new ambulance station at the Grenfell Multi-Purpose Service.

“This is a significant milestone in the NSW Government’s election commitment to build a new station at Grenfell as part of the $122 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) program,” Ms Cooke said.

“Health Infrastructure, NSW Ambulance, the Western NSW Local Health District along with the Weddin Shire Council are all working together to deliver this vital piece of infrastructure for the Grenfell district.”

The new station planned to be collocated with Grenfell MPS on the Mid Western Highway will feature facilities that are a major improvement on the current 120-year-old station on Main Street, enabling local NSW Ambulance paramedics to better meet the mobile emergency medical care needs of Grenfell and surrounds well into the future.

Mayor Mark Liebich said the milestone is well worth celebrating.

“This new Ambulance Station is yet another step in improving health services in the Weddin Shire,” he said.

NSW Ambulance Duty Operations Manager Daniel Clark said the location was carefully chosen to service the needs of the community.

“The new site at will enable local NSW Ambulance paramedics to respond efficiently to the current and future demand for emergency medical care in Grenfell and surrounds,” Mr Clark said.

“Local paramedics provided feedback on the site, the purpose-built Grenfell NSW Ambulance station will deliver a better working environment for them which is a win-win with huge benefits for the community.”

A community information drop-in booth will be manned on the site, adjacent to the Grenfell MPS, on Wednesday July 11 from 11.30am to 5.30pm for people to visit.

“I encourage locals to drop by on Wednesday if they have any questions or would like more information about the project,” Ms Cooke said.

Once completed, the Grenfell NSW Ambulance station will include:

  • Internal parking for up to three emergency ambulance vehicles

  • Administration and office areas

  • Amenities

  • Logistics and storage areas

  • Relief accommodation

  • Staff parking

The next steps include seeking planning approval for the new station.

To date, 23 upgraded, rebuilt or new regional and rural ambulance stations have been announced under the RAIR program, including completed stations at Wagga Wagga, Coolamon, Ardlethan and Harden.

This represents the biggest regional and rural transformation of NSW Ambulance infrastructure in the organisation’s history.
