Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke is encouraging residents across the Cootamundra electorate to pause and reflect this Remembrance Day.
Services will be held in most communities to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served our nation in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
Ms Cooke said that local participation ensures the legacy of veterans continues to be honoured and remembered.
“Every town and village across the Cootamundra electorate has its own story of service and sacrifice, with the names of local men and women who never returned etched into memorials that preserve their legacy,” Ms Cooke said.
“Remembrance Day is a solemn moment for us all to come together, in gratitude and reflection, to remember those who gave their lives in service to our country.”
Ms Cooke will represent the Cootamundra electorate at the NSW Remembrance Day Service in Martin Place, Sydney, joining veterans, service personnel, and community representatives from across the state.
Following the service, she will return to Parliament House as the NSW Legislative Assembly resumes its sitting day.
“I strongly encourage everyone who is able to attend their local service tomorrow,” Ms Cooke said.
“It is our shared responsibility to ensure the stories of our servicemen and women are never forgotten and to acknowledge the enduring impact of their sacrifice.”
