With Mother’s Day just around the corner, Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, is encouraging residents to celebrate Mum in a way that gives back by choosing local businesses for gifts, dining, and experiences.

From florists and boutiques to cafés, restaurants and salons, there is no shortage of thoughtful options across the electorate to make the day memorable while supporting the people who keep local communities vibrant all year round.

Ms Cooke said the occasion serves as the perfect reminder to support small businesses ahead of the quieter winter trading period.

“Mother’s Day is about showing appreciation for the women who care for us every day,” Ms Cooke said.

“It’s also an opportunity to support the many local businesses run by mums and grandmothers themselves, that put so much into our communities year-round.”

Ms Cooke said choosing to shop locally has a direct and lasting impact.

“When you buy a gift from a local store or book a table at a local venue, you’re not just making Mum feel special, you’re helping a small business, supporting local jobs, and keeping money circulating in our region,” she said.

With venues expected to fill quickly, Ms Cooke is urging residents to plan ahead.

“No matter if you’re planning to head out for breakfast, lunch or dinner, our local hospitality venues offer incredible food and welcoming experiences close to home,” she said.

“I’m wishing all of our wonderful mothers, nans, and grandmas across the electorate a very special Sunday, surrounded by family.”
