STEPH COOKE MP STATEMENT: RETIREMENT OF CGRC MAYOR CHARLIE SHEAHAN

Wednesday, 3 July 2024

On behalf of the community, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to outgoing Mayor Councillor Charlie Sheahan for his dedicated service as a member of the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council.

His time as mayor has been characterised by a genuine concern for the community, and a commitment to the long-term growth of the area.

His leadership during what has been a tumultuous time for the council – and indeed the broader community – will be long remembered.

In solidarity with the communities he represented, Charlie has been a tireless advocate for the de-amalgamation of the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council. As we all continue to strive for a successful outcome, I can vouch for the passion with which Charlie has pursued this goal.

As he now turns to new endeavours, he can be assured his contributions have left an indelible mark on the community, and on behalf of residents I wish Charlie and his family all the best for the future.
