STEPH ENCOURAGES COUNCILS TO MAKE LIFE EASIER FOR BUS PASSENGERS

Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke MP, today sent out a message which will make life easier for bus passengers across the Cootamundra electorate.

A $3.25 million grant scheme to improve bus stop facilities has been extended by three months, which means local governments, transport operators and incorporated community organisations can apply for funding in their areas.

“This scheme means bus stops can be improved with new shelters up to a grant value of $10,000, or they can be upgraded with better boarding areas, increased lighting, clearer signs or better surfaces to walk on,” she said.

“We want to make sure that bus passengers have the best facilities possible, and so I encourage councils, joint regional organisations, transport providers and incorporated community organisations, including Aboriginal Land Councils, to submit applications.

“Transport for NSW and I want to make sure that bus passengers find bus stops more accessible, safer to use and meet their needs more efficiently.”

Applications to the Transport for NSW 2017-19 round of the Country Passenger Transport Infrastructure Grant Scheme (CPTIGS) must be received by 6pm on 28 February 2018.
