Hundreds have descended on the tiny township of Tallimba for a unique glimpse of the Central West’s agricultural history.

Organisers of the Tallimba Vintage Harvest Day are celebrating another successful instalment of the beloved event, which reunited the proud farming community after a challenging harvest season.

Due to less-than-favourable conditions in the far west region, organisers were unable to sow a crop for exhibition, but ploughed ahead with other beloved events, including the much-anticipated tractor pull.

Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, said that she was delighted to once again represent the Cootamundra electorate at what has become a regular event on her calendar.

“I have great respect for the organisers of this event, who not only do a fantastic job of celebrating the history of such an important industry but pull the community together after working long and hard hours during the harvest season,” Ms Cooke said.

“Every year, you can feel the sense of passion and pride this community has for an industry they’ve contributed so much to, and that our state should be immensely proud of.”

Highlights of the day included static header displays highlighting the evolution of grain harvest technology, as well as an exhibition of stationary engines and vintage machinery that once ruled rural New South Wales.

Organiser Keith Rowe said the event serves as an opportunity to bring the community together, celebrate the area's history with visitors, and showcase the very best of rural living.

“Tallimba is a small but vibrant farming community off the beaten track,” Mr Rowe said.

“We have an awesome, tight-knit and welcoming community that comes together and throws their support behind the mad idea of a vintage harvest day.”

The Tallimba Vintage Harvest Day is an annual event regularly held at the Tallimba Recreation Ground in January.
