More than a dozen community organisations have secured funding through this year’s Community Building Partnership (CBP) program, with shovel-ready projects set to get off the ground.
A total of $446,178 has been awarded to community-focused initiatives that promote connection, inclusion, and local pride across the Cootamundra electorate.
Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke has congratulated this year’s successful recipients and said the funding would make a real difference on the ground.
“The Community Building Partnership is about backing grassroots projects that strengthen the fabric of our communities,” Ms Cooke said.
“Whether it’s new equipment, improved facilities or critical upgrades, these are projects that community groups have identified as priorities, and now they have the support to make them happen.
“It’s always a privilege to support local volunteers and community organisations in bringing their ideas to life, and I look forward to seeing the impact of your work.”
This year’s recipients include the Junee Show Society, which has received $27,180 to install new drainage and a concrete pathway between their Show Office and Main Pavilion.
President of the Junee Show Society, Peter Commens said it’s a much-needed upgrade to improve pedestrian access and eliminate safety risks from uneven ground and water pooling during wet weather.
“This is a great outcome for everyone who uses the showgrounds throughout the year,” Mr Commens said.
“The new drainage and pathway will make it safer and more accessible, no matter the weather.
“We’ve just seen on the weekend with the Riverina School Boys Carnival how many people rely on these facilities, so this upgrade will be a real benefit to the whole community.”
