Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, has announced the successful funding of $220,192 to the Ariah Park Tennis Club as part of the NSW Government’s ClubGrants funding program.
The funding will allow Ariah Park Tennis Club to undertake works to redevelop the tennis courts, providing greater access for sportspeople in the district for years to come, whilst also increasing opportunities to develop player ability and skill.
Ms Cooke said this funding highlights the importance of investing in regional sport, for recreation, competition and the overall health and wellbeing for the community.
“The grant will go towards resurfacing and upgrading tennis courts, installing new lighting, and enhancing the overall amenities for members and visitors. These improvements are expected to not only attract more players but also host larger tournaments, helping to put Ariah Park on the map for tennis,” Ms Cooke said.
"Our local sporting clubs are at the heart of our communities, and it’s fantastic to see Ariah Park Tennis Club secure this vital funding. This grant will help them maintain their facilities and ensure that the club remains a vibrant hub for tennis enthusiasts of all ages," she said.
Ariah Park Tenns Club Project Coordinator, Mr Daniel Chalmers said this grant will enable the dirt courts to be redeveloped into synthetic grass courts, making the courts much easier to maintain, enhancing junior player development and reinvigorating the adult competition.
“We were delighted and excited to receive the news, this project will be a game changer for our club,” Mr Chalmers said.
While grant funding is becoming more competitive, Ms Cooke acknowledged the incredibly high quality of applications across the Cootamundra electorate to help improve facilities and support the growth of grassroots sports in the region.
“I extend my hearty congratulations to Ariah Park Tennis Club for their successful application in a very competitive environment. It’s great to see real investment in regional sports infrastructure, encouraging more participation, and supporting our hardworking players, supporters and volunteers. Together, our communities can ensure great facilities for future generations to enjoy sport well into the future.”
