BEST WISHES TO HSC STUDENTS AS EXAMS BEGIN

Tuesday, 13 October 2026
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has wished Year 12 students across the electorate the very best as they prepare to begin their Higher School Certificate (HSC) examinations on Tuesday.

From Young and Cootamundra to Temora, Harden, Gundagai, Grenfell, Coolamon, Boorowa, Cowra, Narrandera and communities across the electorate, hundreds of students will sit the exams they have worked towards throughout their final years of high school.
Ms Cooke said students should be proud of all they have already achieved.
“The start of the HSC marks an important milestone in the lives of many young people, and I want every student to know that reaching this point is an achievement in itself,” she said.
“Over the past two years, our students have shown grit and resolve. They have balanced study, work, sport, family responsibilities and community involvement while preparing for this important chapter.”
Ms Cooke encouraged students to face the exam period with certainty and perspective.
“Trust in the hard work you have put in,” she said. “The knowledge, abilities and experiences you have gained throughout your schooling have prepared you for this moment.
“While the HSC is an important step, it does not define who you are or limit what you can achieve. There are many paths to success and every student’s journey remains unique.”
Ms Cooke also acknowledged the support networks behind every student, including parents, carers, teachers, school staff and families who have helped guide and encourage these young people throughout their education.
“Behind every HSC student is a team of people who have supported them along the way,” Ms Cooke said.
“I thank our dedicated teachers, school staff and families who have invested so much time and care into helping students reach this point.”
As students enter examination rooms across the state, Ms Cooke urged them to take care of themselves, stay positive and remember to celebrate how far they have come.
“Take a deep breath, believe in yourself and do your best. That’s all anyone can ask,” she said.
“No matter what the next few weeks bring, you should be proud of your efforts and excited about the opportunities which exist ahead.
“I wish every student across the Cootamundra electorate the very best of luck and every success for the future.”
