COMMITMENT OF OUR NSW POLICE RECOGNISED
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke joined Hilltops Council Mayor Cr Margaret Roles at a ceremony in Goulburn on Tuesday, 30 July 2024, to recognise the service of police officers in the Hume Police District.
At the Hume Police District Awards and Medals Ceremony, several officers from the Hilltops Council and Weddin Council areas were among the 46 serving and retired officers across the Hume Police District who were formally recognised for their exceptional service, dedication, and bravery.
Hume Police District Commander Superintendent Linda Bradbury hosted the ceremonial morning, with Southern Region Commander Assistant Commissioner Joe Cassar presenting medals, clasps, and commendations to officers in formal recognition of the outstanding achievements of Hume Police District officers.
“I am immensely proud of the exceptional service demonstrated by our officers. Their dedication to their roles and our community is nothing short of inspiring. They have been recognised as those who have gone above and beyond in their duties to protect and to serve,” Ms Cooke said.

Senior Constable Belinda Hewitt of Young Police Station was awarded the National Police Service Medal and the NSW Police Medal, First Clasp, for 15 years of diligent and ethical service.
Senior Constable Cameron Warden of Greenethorpe Police Station, deployed to Northern Rivers during the 2022 floods, was awarded the Region Commander’s Unit Citation.
Senior Constable Cameron Warden, Constable Alexander Mitchell and Probationary Constable Conor Crisp of the Young Sector were each awarded the District Commander’s Commendation for their response to a house fire.

“These medals, clasps, and commendations awarded to our local officers highlight their courage and dedication. Their commitment to maintaining public safety and fostering community relationships is commendable, and we are grateful for their service,” Ms Cooke said.
“We also extend our deepest gratitude to the families of the police officers receiving awards, whose unwavering support and sacrifices are integral to their success and service.
Ms Cooke said the ceremony reflected the respect the NSW Police Force had for its officers and was a commendable way of celebrating the achievements of those recognised.
