International Volunteer Day is a significant occasion on our calendar, providing an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the invaluable contributions of our selfless volunteers.
Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, has expressed her deep gratitude to the many volunteers who continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others across the Cootamundra electorate.
“Today is a chance to celebrate the remarkable contributions of our volunteers and acknowledge the profound impact they have on communities throughout the Cootamundra electorate,” Ms Cooke said.
“Our volunteers are the backbone of our communities. They show up every day with passion, dedication, and generosity, giving so much of their time to help and support others.”
Volunteering provides opportunities for individuals to engage in activities that align with their interests and skills and offers a chance to form new friendships, develop new abilities, and experience the fulfilment of building a stronger, more connected community.
Across New South Wales, we are fortunate to have 4.3 million dedicated volunteers, with 1.3 million coming from our rural and regional areas. Their efforts play a vital role in maintaining the strength and resilience of our local communities.
“I am truly grateful to all our volunteers who not only strengthen our communities but also bring about positive change,” Ms Cooke said.
“Whether they are part of our Emergency Services, Lions and Rotary clubs, CWA, Men’s Sheds, View Clubs, WIRES, Landcare, or environmental groups, we thank you. Today is your day, and we applaud your commitment to supporting our communities.”
Ms Cooke also encouraged more people to consider volunteering, saying, “I strongly urge everyone to get involved and make a difference. Volunteering is a wonderful way to contribute to our rural and regional communities while creating a lasting, positive impact.”
