The Western NSW Local Health District has today confirmed that 5 residents from the Cowra LGA have tested positive for COVID-19 overnight.
These new cases bring the total number of active cases in the area to 7.
Western NSW LHD Public Health Unit is currently continuing their investigations into our new and active cases and contact tracing is ongoing to identify any further close contacts.
Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke acknowledged the ongoing efforts from the Public Health team to keep the community both safe and informed.
“I would like to respectfully remind the people of Cowra that it is really important that we allow our Public Health team to do their job. Their work is ongoing, it’s laborious at times, but absolutely critical to ensure that the community is provided with accurate information. The contact tracing team are professional and compassionate. I thank them for everything they are doing.”
People who live, work or have recently travelled through the Cowra LGA, are encouraged to come forward for testing due to ongoing transmission in the area.
“There has never been a more important time than now for residents in the Cowra LGA to get tested and retested. We need to double down on our efforts to contain the spread of the virus throughout our communities,” Ms Cooke added.
Testing clinics will continue to be available to meet demands over the coming week. See clinic locations and times here.
