Cowra’s newest police sergeant is already going above and beyond to keep the community safe by not only policing the town but also serving alongside local firefighters.
Sergeant Jason Baker has recently relocated to Cowra from Lake Macquarie.
In addition to taking up his new policing role, he has joined the Cowra Fire and Rescue, further strengthening the town’s emergency response capability.
Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, welcomed Sergeant Baker during a visit to the FRNSW station, where he was first seen donning navy blue before stepping into police blue.

“It’s not every day a regional town welcomes a new police sergeant and a firefighter, let alone both in the one package,” Ms Cooke said.
“Cowra is fortunate to attract dedicated emergency services professionals, and we are always pleased to see people choose to live, work and serve in our beautiful region.”
“Sergeant Baker’s willingness to wear multiple hats in the service of this community speaks volumes about his commitment, and on behalf of the Cowra community, I extend a very warm welcome and sincere thanks to him and his family.”
Ms Cooke also congratulated Cowra Police Station’s newest Probationary Constable, Jasmine Vitagliano, who recently graduated from the NSW Police Academy in Goulburn as part of Class 367.
“It has been a pleasure to meet all three Probationary Constables deployed to serve the Cootamundra electorate late last year,” Ms Cooke said.

“Probationary Constable Vitagliano has already commenced her 12 months of on-the-ground training and is doing a fantastic job, not only serving the community, but actively connecting with it.”
“It is incredibly rewarding to see more young officers joining our local police stations, and they will always be welcomed with open arms as they play such an important role in keeping our communities safe.”
