The Henry Lawson Festival has received a major boost, with the iconic Grenfell event awarded $30,000 per year for three years through the Regional Event Fund 2026.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said the funding was a significant win for Grenfell and a reflection of the festival's reputation as one of regional NSW's premier cultural events.

“The Henry Lawson Festival is one of the great success stories of regional NSW, so this funding commitment is fantastic news for Grenfell and our wider electorate,” Ms Cooke said.

“Just as importantly, it is recognition of the tremendous work undertaken by the festival committee and volunteers, who continue to deliver an event that attracts visitors from across the state and showcases the very best of our region.”

Held annually over the June long weekend, the Henry Lawson Festival celebrates the life and legacy of one of Australia's most renowned writers through a vibrant program of poetry, music, art, exhibitions, performances and community events.

Ms Cooke said the three-year commitment would help organisers continue building on the festival's success while supporting local businesses and tourism operators.

“The festival generates enormous benefits for Grenfell, creating opportunities for local businesses, accommodation providers, artists, performers and community groups, while giving visitors a reason to discover everything the region has to offer,” she said.

“This investment recognises the festival's growing appeal and provides valuable support for organisers as they continue to strengthen and expand the event into the future.”

Ms Cooke congratulated the festival committee and volunteers on securing the funding.

“This outcome is a credit to the committee, volunteers and supporters who have worked tirelessly to build the Henry Lawson Festival into the celebrated event it is today,” she said.

“Their passion and dedication continue to honour Henry Lawson's legacy while delivering lasting social, cultural and economic benefits for the Grenfell community.”
