Organisations in the Narrandera Local Government Area will receive $1.3 million in funding for four projects, thanks to the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund Round Five.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said it is great to see the NSW Government committed to supporting regional areas such as Narrandera LGA.

“I was delighted to be joined by Deputy Premier, the Hon. Paul Toole to announce funding to Narrandera Shire Council for their upgrades at the Narrandera water tower and an upgrade of the CBD security camera system,” Ms Cooke said.

“Both projects will be of great benefit to the community. The Narrandera Water Tower precinct will create a fantastic tourist attraction while the renewal of the CBD security system will ensure Narrandera continues to be a safe space for residents and visitors alike.”

Narrandera Shire Council General Manager, Mr George Cowan said the council are very appreciative of these funds, enabling them to address two long-standing issues for the Narrandera community.

“This will enable us to deliver on requests made by residents of Narrandera at many community forums and allow for the town to have a fully integrated security camera system,” Ms Cowan said.

The four projects in Narrandera LGA include:

·         Narrandera Shire Council $660,000 - Recreational upgrades at the                                                           Narrandera water tower area.

·         Narrandera Shire Council $249,597 - Community safety upgrade program                                (security camera system).

·         Barellan Woking Clydesdales $160,726 – Bronze statue.

·         Narrandera Tennis Club Inc $244,337 – Clubhouse and court accessibility project.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW Paul Toole said in the past five years the Stronger Country Communities Fund had delivered more than 2000 grassroots projects, benefitting every Local Government Area in regional NSW.

“This is just one of 530 projects that will make regional communities stronger and an even better place to call home,” Mr Toole said.

The Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $3.3 billion Regional Growth Fund, designed to support growing regional centres, activate local economies and improve services and community infrastructure in the regions.
