Almost a year since construction commenced, the first wave of children has made their way to Taylor Park to test out Grenfell’s brand-new accessible playground.

The grand opening of the play park was held on Saturday, with Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke joining representatives from Weddin Shire Council and the Touched by Olivia Foundation to officially open the facility.

Also known as Livvi’s Place, the facility at Taylor Park joins a network of vibrant, accessible and welcoming play parks across the state, built for the enjoyment of families and children of all abilities.

Ms Cooke has been a long-time supporter of the Touched by Olivia Foundation and was thrilled to hear such positive feedback from families during Saturday’s event.

“It’s so special to see local families and children come together to enjoy a space that’s been designed for everyone,” Ms Cooke said.

“This project is about ensuring every child, no matter their ability, can experience the freedom and happiness of play. It’s a wonderful example of what can be achieved when community, council and organisations like Touched by Olivia work together for a shared purpose.”

The NSW Coalition awarded $629,797 in funding to the Livvi’s Park Project through Round Five of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.

A further $651,550 in funding was secured in 2024 through the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund to upgrade public facilities throughout Taylor Park

In addition to the new inclusive playground, the overall project has delivered new park furniture, undercover barbecues, accessible footpaths, signage and additional landscaping.

“I know this park will be loved and well-used for generations to come,” Ms Cooke said.

“It’s a place where laughter, imagination and friendship can thrive, and that’s something truly worth celebrating.”
