More projects are being delivered across the electorate as part of the NSW Government’s Children and Young People Wellbeing Recovery initiative.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said this initiative has delivered $46,000 so far to six projects, helping support recovery and boost resilience for young people in the region following the impacts of natural disasters and COVID-19.

“I’m thrilled to see so many supportive initiatives for our regional youth being delivered that will help young people in our community bounce back stronger than ever,” Ms Cooke said.

The three projects announced in this round are:

·         Hilltops Youth Action Group (HYAG) - Day trip to Dubbo Zoo $10,000

·         Noro Music – Riverina Music Showcase - $9,934

·         Murrumburrah High School – Boys to the Bush School Program - $6,800

As part of this initiative, Hilltops Youth Action Group (HYAG) members will mentor young, vulnerable children who are at risk of disengaging from social and community activities and will hold a day-trip in March 2023 to Dubbo Zoo.

A two-day musical event will be held by Riverina Music at the Cootamundra Art’s Centre targeting connection, inclusion and creativity and Murrumburrah High School will introduce a ‘Boys to the Bush School Program’ to help young people bounce back stronger than ever.

Previously announced programs under the NSW Government’s Children and Young People Wellbeing Recovery initiative include:

·         Hennessy Catholic College – The Man Cave - $9,200

·         Bland Shire Council – Kinder Kick AFL Sessions - $2,524

·         Temora Shire Council – Hip-Hop music program - $8,331.25

These projects will assist youth to reconnect with peers and the wider community. They are a great example of how we can help young people recover, build resilience and improve their well-being by providing them with the tools and resources they need to grow.

Minister for Regional Youth Ben Franklin said the $10.3 million Children and Young People Wellbeing Recovery Initiative offers large grants between $10,000 and $50,000 and small grants for up to $10,000.

Eligible applicants are encouraged to apply for funding for well-being programs, events and resources as part of the initiative.

Applications for both large and smaller grants are open now and close on

31 December 2022, or when fully allocated.
