CELEBRATING THE HEART OF OUR COMMUNITIES ON WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY

Tuesday, 27 October 2026
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke paid tribute to teachers across the electorate ahead of World Teachers’ Day on Friday, 30 October 2026, recognising the huge impact they play on the lives of students, families and communities.

Ms Cooke said World Teachers’ Day is an opportunity to acknowledge the patience and passion teachers show every day, both in and out of the classroom.
“On World Teachers’ Day, we recognise and honour the amazing teachers who shape the futures of our young people and strengthen communities across the Cootamundra electorate,” Ms Cooke said.
“No matter if they are teaching in our larger towns or our smallest villages, teachers play an important role in helping students learn, grow and reach their full potential.”
Ms Cooke said teachers often go above and beyond their classroom responsibilities, supporting students through difficulties, encouraging confidence and helping them develop the skills they need to succeed.
“A great teacher can leave a lasting influence that extends far beyond a student’s school years,” Ms Cooke said.
“They awaken curiosity and help to build confidence. Across our electorate, we are fortunate to have devoted educators who work consistently to provide opportunities for students and who are fully committed to the success of their communities.”
World Teachers’ Day also gives parents and students a chance to thank the teachers who make a difference every day.
“Teachers are at the heart of our communities,” Ms Cooke said. “They mentor, support and encourage the next generation while helping to build stronger, brighter futures for NSW.
“I encourage everyone to take a moment to thank a teacher who has had a meaningful impact in their life or the life of their family. Their contribution deserves to be recognised and celebrated.”
Ms Cooke thanked all teachers, school leaders and education support staff across the Cootamundra electorate for their commitment to delivering quality education and supporting local students.
