Residents of Cooinda Court joined Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, Federal Member for the Riverina, the Hon. Michael McCormack, CEO Belinda Colgan, Chair Director Patricia Butler, and Mayor Callow to celebrate the official opening of the new 8-bed Memory Support Unit and the completion of recent upgrades to the Cooinda Court Aged Care Facility.
The new Banksia Wing, an 8-bed Memory Support Unit marks a significant expansion of aged care services in the community.
Recent upgrades to Cooinda Court, including new dining area furniture and the installation of solar panels, have modernised the facility and enhanced its energy efficiency. These upgrades were made possible by a $60,000 funding contribution from the former NSW Coalition government.
“These improvements will not only enhance the comfort and well-being of residents but also improve the facility’s energy efficiency,” Ms Cooke said.
“We’ve seen Cooinda Court evolve significantly since our fight to secure the land from NSW Health in 2019, and these latest improvements represent a major step forward in strengthening and enhancing our community’s aged care services," Ms Cooke said.
For over 30 years, Cooinda Court has been a cornerstone of the Junee community, offering compassionate care to its treasured residents.
Ms Cooke acknowledged the dedication of staff and volunteers, whose strong connections with residents make the facility feel like home.
“Cooinda Court’s staff go above and beyond to ensure that residents feel cared for, supported, and at ease. For residents, staff are familiar faces—people they trust—who provide the highest standard of care,” Ms Cooke said.
