EVENT FUNDING OPEN FOR RURAL AND REGIONAL NSW

February 23, 2018
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke is encouraging dreamers to get their events off the ground by applying for new funding for regional initiatives.
The NSW Government’s 2018 Incubator Event Fund supports new and second year events held in rural and regional NSW between July and December 2018. “The fund offers a one-off grant of up to $20,000 to assist with activities such as marketing, public relations, venue hire and attendee research,” Ms Cooke said.
“The power vibrant events have to draw people to our stunning region can’t be understated. “This funding will enable and support fresh, new initiatives to grow and possibly even become major drawcards like Junee’s upcoming Rhythm n Rail Festival or the iconic National Cherry Festival in Young,” she said.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the Fund is one of three streams included in the Regional Flagship Events Program and is part our record $43 million investment aimed at increasing overnight visitation and expenditure across rural and regional NSW.
“As a country-based Minister I am determined to ensure that we continue to empower and support event proponents, tour operators, hoteliers and visitor attractions, and that means investing in activities which help to turbocharge local economies and create more jobs,” Mr Marshall said.
“I encourage new and existing smaller-scale events to learn more about this wonderful opportunity that will help place more heads on hotel beds, diners in restaurants and shoppers in boutiques,” he added.
Applications for Round Two of the 2018 Incubator Event Fund are open until Sunday, March 18. To lodge an application and to view the criteria visit, www.destinationnsw.com.au/rfep.
The Regional Flagship Events Program is managed and administered through the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
