Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today announced that The Weethalle Whistlestop Museum has been selected to receive funding from the NSW Government.

The museum will receive $1,975 in funding through the Volunteer Museum Small Grants Program, administered by Museums & Galleries of NSW to facilitate vital improvements for volunteer-run museums across the state.

“The Weethalle Whistlestop Museum is a fantastic part of the community and it’s wonderful to know that this support will lead to some valued improvements,” Ms Cooke said.

“A historic train station opened back in 1923, anything we can do to breathe life back into history and encourage both locals and visitors to get lost among the amazing collection of antiques and crafts is very welcome.”

The museum will use the funding to manufacture and install museum signage which provides a clear invitation to visitors for exhibition access.

Under the program, in the first of two annual funding rounds, eleven community museums from regional NSW will benefit from a total of $17,864.70.

Minister for the Arts Don Harwin said, “I know that volunteer-led organisations hold a special place in communities across NSW and we are delighted to be able to continue supporting their efforts with regular improvements.

“By boosting the capability of our museums, these improvements play an important part in increasing participation from locals and visitors and ultimately boost the excellence of our cultural offering for the State as a whole,” Mr Harwin said.
