Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today announced $1,125,084 in funding for 10 projects in Gundagai, to help the community grow and thrive.

Cootamundra Gundagai Regional Council secured NSW Government funding under Round Two of the Stronger Country Communities Fund for upgrades to sporting and community facilities in and around town.

Ms Cooke made the announcement at the showground and home of the Gundagai Pony Club.

“The equine facilities here at Gundagai have a reputation as some of the best in the whole region,” Ms Cooke said.

“But we’re going one step further today, we’re going to make them even better and construct a multipurpose undercover training area for horse enthusiasts.   “This group of riders are so dedicated and so enthusiastic and I’m thrilled today’s grant announcement includes $199,151 to take their sport to the next level and attract visitors from as far as Sydney and Melbourne.”

Anzac Park will also receive a major facelift with major upgrades to the change rooms and an amenities block for supporters on the southern side of the park.

Ms Cooke said it was a huge day for Gundagai.

“Today is about more than just cheques and more than just numbers,” she said.

“It’s about giving back and supporting all of these club presidents and members, and Cootamundra Gundagai Regional Council, to deliver the facilities this community deserves.”
