IT’S A WRAP FOR $6 MILLION UPGRADE OF HUME HIGHWAY NEAR GUNDAGAI

Monday July 9, 2018
A project to upgrade a four kilometre section of deteriorated road surface on the Hume Highway, near Gundagai, has been completed.
The $6 million NSW Government funded upgrade between Snowball Creek and Tumblong, six kilometres south of Gundagai, started in early April and has improved the road surface, extended the life of the road and reduced future maintenance costs.
“The Hume Highway provides a vital connection which links Australia’s two largest cities, Sydney and Melbourne,” Ms Cooke said.
“Continued maintenance upgrades on this heavily used road are important to provide the safest route in best condition possible for road users.
“The reduced speed limit and contraflow set-up, which saw the highway’s southbound lanes closed and the northbound lanes changed to single two-way lanes, has now been lifted with traffic returning to the upgraded section of road,” she added.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks the community for their patience while work was carried out on this important road improvement work.
