MOBILE BLACK SPOT FUNDS DELIVER BETTER PHONE COVERAGE FOR TEMORA

March 6, 2018
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke today announced local businesses and residents now have access to extended mobile coverage, following the installation of a base station near Temora and Ingalba Nature Reserve.
Ms Cooke said the NSW Government is working to eliminate mobile black spots across the State through its Mobile Black Spot Program.
“This new tower will make a great difference for the people of the Temora area,” Ms Cooke said.
“Mobile phone coverage across the Cootamundra electorate is sometimes not all it could be which is understandable given the electorate’s size.
“The NSW Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program is successfully addressing this issue which will make a huge difference in the Temora area,” she added.
“At last, businesses will be able to operate without interruption caused by poor mobile connection or phone calls dropping out,” she said.
The program has so far delivered 10 base stations in the electorate and 85 of a scheduled 183 new or upgraded mobile base stations across regional NSW.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said the NSW Government has already committed $39 million to the program, which is proving a great success.
“It can be incredibly frustrating when a lack of phone coverage means you can’t keep in touch with family, friends or even operate your own business,” Mr Barilaro said.
“I’m thrilled communities across the state are now seeing improvements and can get on with their lives.”
The Mobile Black Spot Program aims to improve and extend coverage of high quality mobile, voice and wireless broadband services in rural and regional areas across Australia.
