The scholarship program aims to attract and keep skilled early childhood educators by offering financial support to those who want to join the sector or improve their qualifications.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said these scholarships give local residents a great chance to build a rewarding career and help meet workforce needs in the area.

“Early childhood educators perform a key role in helping children learn and grow during their crucial early years,” she said.

There are several scholarships available, covering Certificate III, Diploma, Bachelor’s, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, and Master’s qualifications in early childhood education and care.

Successful applicants can receive between $5,000 and $35,000, depending on their chosen qualification and situation. Extra support is available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander scholars and for those living in regional, rural, or remote areas.

“These scholarships can help ease some of the financial obstacles to study and encourage more people to think about a career in early childhood education,” Ms Cooke said.

“I encourage anyone who wants to work with young children, and current educators wanting to further their qualifications, to look into the opportunities this program offers.”

Applications for Round 2 opened on 21 October 2026 and will close at 10am on Monday, 14 December 2026.

Applicants should check the eligibility requirements before applying. For more information and to apply, visit the NSW Department of Education website here.
