Volunteers at the Lambing Flat Folk Museum and the Narrandera Parkside Cottage Museum are celebrating today after Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke MP announced grants to help support their work.

The Lambing Flat Folk Museum in Young will receive $5418 to engage conservation specialist Tegan Anthes to undertake a Preservation Needs Assessment of the museum.

The Narrandera Parkside Cottage Museum will receive $1852 to create bespoke portable, secure and adaptive flexible display cases that can display a varying number of objects, making the collection more accessible to visitors.

Ms Cooke said it gave her great pleasure to be able to support the volunteers who work so tirelessly to look after our shared heritage.

“These people and their museums are a much-valued part of our community, and they deserve all the support we can give them.

“I look forward to seeing the results of their work,” she said.

NSW Minister for the Arts Don Harwin MP said, “I know that these grants will bring about some great development outcomes at both museums that will benefit the whole community.”

The funding comes from the NSW Government’s arts, screen and culture agency Create NSW through the Volunteer Museum Small Grants Program, administered by Museums & Galleries of NSW.

Under the program, 16 community museums across regional NSW and metro Sydney will benefit from a total of $48,196 in funding.
